Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital Medical Library

The Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital Medical Library provides library and health information resources and services to meet the informational, educational and research-related needs of the medical and hospital staff for their use in the delivery of quality health care. The Medical Library is open to all Hospital employees and medical staff including residents and medical students with proper badge identification. It provides a quiet, academic atmosphere for research and study.

Two professional Medical Librarians are available to perform literature searches on any health-related topic upon request. They also offer search assistance with the medical databases and schedule personalized online search tutorials. Article reprints are provided by Library staff from journals within the collective holdings of Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and Johns Hopkins’ Welch Medical Library. If unavailable from either library, an interlibrary loan request is submitted to fulfill the requested article. The Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital Library staff also serves as exam proctors for employees.

Location & Hours

The Medical Library is located on the 1st floor of the Main Hospital, Room 1651, between the Employee Entrance and the Emergency Center. The Library is staffed Monday-Friday from 9:00 am until 5:30 pm. Clinical staff has 24-hour badge access and can swipe in at the entrance. All other employees may contact the Medical Library to obtain after-hours access.

The Medical Library owns more than 800 medical and nursing books with a primary focus on pediatric medicine and its specialties. Books may be checked out for two weeks, with an additional two-week renewal. A self-check-out station is set up for after-hours visitors.

The archived print issues, also arranged alphabetically, are on the moving shelves located past the book collection. In cooperation with the Welch Medical Library, the ACH Medical Library provides access to thousands of electronic health journal titles.
