Medical School: Meharry Medical College

Clinical Interests: healthcare policy, global health, the interplay between healthcare disparities, issues of access, and subsequent outcomes

Personal Interests: I love to read and spend time with family and friends. My favorite television show is Homeland. Traveling is a passion of mine and I am always looking for a new opportunity to visit another country. I am also a huge foodie and love to cook and try new restaurants.

 

Brittany Bruce, MD

Hometown: Kansas City, Missouri 

Medical School: The University of Kansas School of Medicine 

Clinical Interests: Exploring how social determinants of health affect patient care and patient outcomes and how to best integrate individualized care into everyday practice. Community health advocacy, particularly as it pertains to childhood obesity and youth sports. 

Personal Interests: I am a foodie with a sweet tooth I’m working on taming. I love finding new restaurants, a good patio on a sunny day, binge-watching Netflix, painting & DIY projects, spending time with my fiancé and cheering obnoxiously for the football games he coaches, and anything that includes the beach!

Clinical Interests: Currently, I'm very interested in pediatric cardiology; however, there's fascinating and compelling elements to be found across the spectrum of pediatric health and illness. I strive to merge my academic training in bioethics with my daily clinical practice.

Personal Interests: I'm a devoted fantasy football player, but my Buccaneers always come first! I'm also an avid reader (and sometimes-writer), especially of short stories. I like SCUBA diving and tennis, watching independent movies, and exploring St. Pete's restaurant scene.

 

Scott Furer, MD

Hometown: Palm coast, FL

Medical School: University of Central Florida College of Medicine

Clinical interests: I love to teach and know my future lies with academic medicine. At the moment, I'm most interested in the neuropsychiatric world, exploring how the intricacies of the brain and nervous system along with social factors impact the health and development of kids.

Personal Interests: Outside of work, hakuna mattata are words I live by. Coffee runs through my blood at all times. My guilty pleasures include superhero movies, GoT, and eating ridiculous amounts of desserts. I love traveling and getting lost in new cities. I enjoy anything with salt water, binging Netflix, boxing, and sporting events.

 

Svetlana Kozlovich, MD

Hometown: Kishinev, Moldova and San Diego

Medical school: Rosalind Franklin University of Medical Sciences, Chicago Medical School

Clinical Interests: Working with underserved and immigrant populations, diabetes, childhood obesity, medical education

Personal Interests: Running, yoga, spending time with my wonderful husband, Nick, and dog, Bella, craft beer tasting, traveling

 

Neha Manikonda, MD

Hometown: The Woodlands, TX

Medical school: The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine 

Clinical Interests: I am interested in general pediatrics and global health. I also hope to be involved in advocacy and community outreach to promote high quality health care for the underserved. 

Personal Interests: I love to travel and am always looking to incorporate as much of it as possible into my life. I also love to watch entirely too many television shows, read novels, spend time with family and friends, explore new restaurants, and get outside for hiking and hanging out at the beach. 

 

Nicole Neveln, MD 

Hometown: Ashburn, VA

Medical School: Eastern Virginia Medical School

Clinical Interests: I am very interested in critical care and plan to pursue a fellowship in neonatology.

Personal Interests: I love warm weather and I’m so excited to be living in sunny Florida! I really love the beach and I’m looking forward to trying different water activities, like jet skiing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. I also enjoy spending time with friends and going to see Broadway musicals (Wicked is my favorite). I have been trying to work out more (mostly with weights and fitness classes) and I pretend that I enjoy exercising!

Clinical Interests: Working in underserved communities, Global Health, incorporating communities and families into patient wellbeing and Academic Medicine. 

Personal Interests: I love being outdoors and I'm looking forward to exploring all St Pete has to offer! I enjoy running, fishing, biking, cooking and traveling. 

 

Palak Patel, MD 

Hometown: Round Rock, TX

Medical School: University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center

Clinical Interests: : I am an aspiring general pediatrician with an interest in also working in a nursery. I love the preventative aspects and long term relationships formed within general peds. I hope to work with families in long term health maintenance as well as acute processes. 

Personal Interests: I love anything that involves playing sports and being outdoors, especially basketball, the beach, and running/hiking. I also enjoy traveling and trying new restaurants – Mexican, Thai, and Italian are my favorites. Above all, I love spending time with my fiancé, family, and friends.

 

Anna Petrella, MD 

Hometown: Decatur, IL 

Medical School: Southern Illinois School of Medicine

Clinical Interests: I am interested in hospital medicine and child advocacy, and I hope to help ensure that children of have a safe and healthy childhood regardless of ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Personal interests: I love spending time with my husband, dog, cooking and exploring craft beer. I am also an avid Crossfitter and enjoy spending time outside, as long as I have sunscreen and bug spray! I can never pass up a good book, Jane Austen movie, or spy television show. 

 

Zach Spoehr-Labutta, MD

Hometown: Laytonsville, MD

Medical School: The George Washington University-School of Medicine and Health Sciences

Clinical Interests: I am passionate about providing high quality, innovative, and community-oriented primary care. I enjoy tailoring care to individual children, while also partnering with school systems to promote larger scale wellness. 

Personal Interests: I enjoy spending time exploring new places with my husband, playing with our dog, video game marathons, and most recently picked up kayaking!

 

Alyssa Woodard, MD

Hometown: Maitland, FL

Medical School: Florida State University College of Medicine

Clinical Interests: My interests lie in childhood obesity and giving children with disabilities the opportunity to have a community of support. At the end of the day, I want to be an honest and dedicated pediatrician that practices evidence based medicine with my patient’s best interest at heart. 

Personal Interests: AHH so many! I love running, YOGA, wine, listening to music, and becoming absorbed in a good novel. I also love pretending to be an interior designer on a residency budget while watching my idol Joanna Gaines (HGTV). My boyfriend cooks, so I like eating his food as well:) Currently, I am attempting to keep my plants alive (ask me about my lemon tree!)
