 Brittany Badal, MD      

 Brittany Badal

Hometown:  Jacksonville, FL

Medical School:  University of Louisville School of Medicine

Clinical Interests: Developing healthcare advocacy and outreach programs targeted to our community.  Exploring how evidence-based medicine and interdisciplinary care can improve the lives of our patients.

Personal Interests: I’m an avid traveler and, admittedly, a bit of a foodie. So I love exploring new cities and restaurants.  I enjoy spending time outdoors and am excited to go hiking, biking, and kayaking in my new home. 

 

Angela Coker, MD  

Angela Coker

Hometown: Atlanta, GA 

Medical School: Medical College of Georgia 

Clinical Interests: I am interested in critical care, particularly the use of ECMO in patients with respiratory failure, and international medicine. 

Personal Interests: I love ballroom and swing dancing, and you can always find me tapping my toes to whatever song may be playing nearby. I also enjoy checking out fun events around St. Pete with my co-residents like toga parties at the Dali Museum. My goal for the year is to hit up as many different restaurants and breweries as I can and eat my way around the peninsula.

 

Noura Estephane, MD

Hometown: Louisville, Kentucky

Medical School: University of Louisville School of Medicine 

Clinical Interests: I will be pursuing a career in Neonatology. I also have an interest in medical education and hope to establish a career in academic medicine. 

Personal Interests: I’m a pretty simple person. I love to spend time with my husband, Chris, and crazy doug, Louie.  On days off you can find me hanging with friends, cooking, exploring new restaurants, binge-watching Netflix, or chilling at the beach.  I'm also a huge sports fan and will watch any and all sporting events, especially my Louisville Cards!

 

Michelle Hidalgo, MD

Hometown: Miami, FL

Medical School:  University of Central Florida College of Medicine

Clinical Interests: I am passionate about Pediatric Palliative Care, particularly as it pertains to adolescents living with chronic illnesses. I also have interests in Academic Medicine, Global Health, Advocacy, and Ethics.

Personal Interests: Eating is my preferred activity. The only marathons I run require a subscription to Netflix. I like to collect stamps... in my passport. My boyfriend and I adopted a three-legged dog named Maya and she's basically the only cool thing about me

 

Ashleigh Kussman, MD

Hometown: Kettering, OH

Medical School: University of Toledo College of Medicine

Clinical Interests: I will be pursuing Pediatric Hematology and Oncology and have successfully matched into a fellowship program at Nationwide Children's Hospital(Columbus, OH) starting in July 2018! I plan to improve the healthcare of childhood cancer fighters and survivors through advocacy, research, and by contributing to the training of future physicians in this field at an academic institution.

Personal Interests: I love music, singing, trying new restaurants, and exploring the great outdoors. If you are looking for a musical attending buddy, I’m your gal, and there are plenty of musicals playing throughout the year at the Straz Theatre in Tampa, FL, for a great get-away. My husband and I love St. Petersburg and its culture and diversity. There is always something to do or see, including the beach, festivals, museums, parks, aquariums, nature preserves, escape rooms, Rowdies (soccer), Tampa Bay Rays (baseball) and Buccaneers (football) games, etc and plenty of “non-chain” restaurants to try.  I also enjoy spending time with my co-residents and their significant others, as they are an amazing group of people! :-)

 

Sarah Marsicek, MD

Sarah Marsicek

Hometown: Auburn, KS

Medical School: University of Nebraska College of Medicine

Clinical Interests: Delivering patient and family-centered, cost-effective, evidence-based care.  Advocating for appropriate systems-based changes to enhance the quality of care given to patients  and families.  I would like to pursue a career as a  Hospitalist.

Personal Interests: Enjoying all of the local festivals and markets St. Pete has to offer. Spending time exploring all of the local attractions with my husband and son. My husband and I are huge foodies.  We love to discover unique places to dine (of which there are a ton of in St. Pete!).  We also make the trek to Orlando to visit Mickey quite often.  Our two dogs (Jeffrey and Tucker) love the beach and it is one of our favorite pastimes as well.

 

Anna Meyer, MD, PhD

Anna Meyer

Hometown: Manila, Philippines, but have called Charleston, SC home for the past 7 years.

Medical School: Medical University of South Carolina

Clinical Interests: My clinical interest is in Allergy and Immunology. I am also very interested in community outreach and health education, specifically involving local schools.

Personal Interests: I love spending time with my husband, our two girls and our dog.  We visit children's museums, local parks/playgrounds and beaches.  We love to travel and explore new places together. I am a foodie - I love trying new restaurants as well as cooking, especially Asian/Filipino cuisine. I also enjoy working in my garden when it's not too hot outside.

 

Phillip Mote, MD

Hometown: Marietta, GA

Medical School:  Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine

Clinical interests: General pediatrics, primary care, quality improvement

Personal interests:  My wife and I enjoy spending time outdoors and soaking up the Florida sun. We love taking our playful dog to many of the fun dog beaches nearby, getting to know our neighbors and getting plugged into our local church.  I'm super excited to live close to an awesome golf course and get to play more consistently.  Cycling is a big deal around here and I am slowly breaking into that culture, and getting fit in the meantime. 

 

Nicole Nghiem, MD, MBA

Nicole Nghiem

Hometown:  Golden, CO

Medical School: University of Colorado School of Medicine

Clinical Interests:  I am interested in improving the usability of health information technology, and exploring the role of new medical technologies in patient care.  I would also love to continue my involvement with medical efforts in Vietnam.

Personal Interests: I enjoy singing (in the car), playing piano, photography, snowboarding (which may soon be substituted by paddle boarding), and discovering the best food spots with my co-resdients. I also love the outdoors and it's been great being able to relax on the beach and go dolphin watching by the bay.

 

Claudia Phen, MD 

Claudia Phen

Hometown: Lakeland, FL

Medical School: University of Florida College of Medicine

Clinical Interests: Pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and childhood nutrition.

Personal Interests: I love spending time with family and friends! On my days off, you can find me frequenting local coffee shops or trying new foods. I also enjoy piano, writing, traveling near and far, and learning about people's background and cultures.​

 

Mariana Theodoro, MD 

Marianna Theodoro

Hometown: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Medical School: University of Kansas School of Medicine

Clinical Interests: My clinical interests include learning about cost-effective and evidence-based care in the setting of family centered practice.  I really enjoy academic medicine and the specialties I am most interested in currently are Neonatology and Hospitalist Medicine.  I also love discussing ethics in medicine.

Personal Interests:  I enjoy a variety of different activities, especially in the the company of family and friends!  I love trying out new restaurants, taking walks downtown and going to art fairs around. Also, since moving to St. Pete, my family and I go to the amazing beaches every chance we get!

 

Stessie Zimmerman, MD

Hometown: Orem, UT

Medical School: Vanderbilt School of Medicine

Clinical Interests: Many! Including Weight Management and Sports Medicine. The intersect of social determinants of health, ethics, and medicine is particularly intriguing to me and often influences my choice of novels.

Personal Interests: My husband and I have enjoyed our move to St. Petersburg. We enjoy the outdoors and look forward to times spent running on the beach, kayaking, camping, and climbing. We also enjoy trying new recipes and restaurants and welcome any recommendations.
